Our new website is currently under construction... thank you for your patience!
Below, you'll find announcements from the director, including such items as notes for upcoming rehearsals, things to practice, links to recordings of pieces we're playing, reminders, and more.
Here are links to sample recordings of what we are playing:
March to the Scaffold
Song of the Hebrides
Renaissance Festival & Dances
I hope your week has gone well. It has gone quickly for me, but I’m almost caught up. Below are some basic ‘notes’ (pun intended ;-) about what we’ll try to accomplish on Tuesday of this week. I’ll also try to get these posted on the band web site, after I relearn how to do it.
6:30 Warm up in Band Room:
“Superior Bands” book p. 14 Chromatic Warm-ups (Concert Eb), p. 25 major and minor scales, p. 34 major and minor scales in thirds
6:40 Sectional time:
“In Infamy” - New material to learn from m. 69-end / this is the fun part of the piece as the battle is finished, and a beautiful familiar melody inspires.
“March to the Scaffold” - New material to learn from m. 51-77 / getting used to playing m. 77 and eyes jumping back to measure 51 due to the D.S. al Coda. Hopefully we all start feeling more comfortable reading in ‘cut time.’
“Java” - if time / some of you may have had it handed out to you last week / an Al Hirt pop tune from my childhood, part of my inspiration to play trumpet / here we go trumpets - we’re putting you in the spotlight.
7:45 Full Rehearsal:
“March to the Scaffold”
You may have noticed that full rehearsals are not as long as sectional time. By design, we tend to “front load” (more time) our new music, learning the basics of the pieces. In October, things will shift to shorter sectionals and longer full rehearsals, leading up to the Saturday, November 13, 2:00 pm concert.
Our rehearsals for the Fall Session 2021 begin tomorrow (Tuesday, 9/7/21)!
We are back at our regular location: Fox Valley Lutheran High School. For those who may be new to the group, the address is: 5300 N Meade St, Appleton, WI 54913. Here's a link to Google Maps, as well: https://goo.gl/maps/tLYo86pSwPj1z9ucA
Looking forward to seeing you all and making music together!
