Fellow Musicians,
Thanks to you all for a great start to this session! Keep playing; Keep smiling! Please make sure to read through the message for details about monthly luncheons resuming and an opportunity to participate in this year’s annual band camp through Hooked on Bands!.
Before I hit ‘send’ I just want to thank everyone that came out to support the HASBand Big Band performance a few Thursdays back. You brightened my day by being there! Also, thanks to those that supported MiOSM by voting in the Heid Big 10+ photo contest! Voting is still open! Visit https://www.heidmusic.com/big10plus/ and vote for (HMS/FWA) or your favorite music program every day!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day and Beware the Ides of March!

Lunchtime Gatherings  —
Are you hungry? Would you like to meet for lunch? Before the pandemic hit, our band members used to meet for lunch once per month at Pullman’s in Appleton. It was mostly the retired and not-working-at-regular-jobs musicians, but all are welcome, and it was fun. We even met all summer. Several members have suggested it’s time to re-start our luncheons and are happy to announce that a reservation has been set for April 10th at 11:30 at Pullman’s in Appleton. We hope to see you there!

Hooked On Bands Door County Band Camp
(the following is pulled from a recent email from Hooked on Bands)
“A little history: In 1991, Dr. Roy Ernst formed the first New Horizons Band at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. The second New Horizons Band came into existence in October 1992, organized by Bob Swan, then Director of Music Education at Ward-Brodt Music Mall in Madison, Wisconsin. Shortly thereafter, the Madison New Horizons Band Boosters was formed and, a couple of years later, the first “Band Music Weekend” convened in Baileys Harbor, Door County, Wisconsin.

The Madison New Horizons Band is still sponsored by Ward-Brodt Music (thank you W-B!), the Band Boosters is now Hooked On Bands, Inc., and the Band Music Weekend is now the Hooked On Bands Door County Band Camp.

This year we’re celebrating the 30th Anniversary of our annual weekend of music, friends, and fun in beautiful Door County!  We hope you’ll join us!” The brochure for the 2024 Door County Band Camp is attached (see Jenny’s original email attachment).
