Now that we’ve had a couple rehearsals, we’ve been able to get an idea of how each of our parts puts together the overall sound for a a great performance. This week we’ll try to add some ‘nuance’ – paying a little more attention to dynamics and phrasing. Our primary work will be on “The Planets”, reviewing “Mars” with its contrasting dynamics and strong articulation, and then getting a start on “Venus”. Let’s also try to review the second part of Lincolnshire Posy (“The Lost Lady Found”) getting comfortable with the over and over melodic and rhythmic patterns. Developing speed should be fun on that movement.
We’ll work on those three things (“Mars”, “Venus”, and “The Lost Lady Found”) in both sectional time and rehearsal time. Looking forward to seeing and hearing you again.
