Greetings,

Week after week, I am continually impressed with your playing (and playing in costume) and am honored to be your director! I am really looking forward to a fine concert!

Here are a few items I thought I would share or review before our next rehearsal:

Websites:

Share with anyone interested!

Metronomes:

Tuners:
(great for warm-ups, practicing lip slurs, holding long tones, etc.)

Musical Terms Review:
sfz – sforzato = suddenly with force
sffz – fortissimo sforzato = suddenly with even more force (thanks for looking this up Michael!)
sf – sforzando = sudden, forceful
sff – fortissimo sforzando = sudden, even more forceful

It is my impression that these terms are used somewhat interchangeably and the true performance technique would be based off of the style, age, or origin of the piece.
