Many of our New Horizons Band Fox Valley (NHBFV) musicians, our band director and instructors, and their family members are over age 60 – and may also have additional underlying health concerns. As such, they may be at high risk regarding the COVID-19 virus. As they relate to our non-profit adult music education program, NHBFV will follow CDC guidelines, State of Wisconsin laws and guidelines, and the findings and recommendations of the on-going National Performing Arts Aerosol Study. When these guidelines, findings and recommendations change over time, NHBFV will reassess its COVID-19 Plan of Action and take the necessary prudent precautions.
NHBFV plans to hold its 2021 late spring/summer session band rehearsals outdoors at the City of Appleton Pierce Park pavilion. If a safe indoor venue is available for fall rehearsals in September 2021, then NHBFV will consider the feasibility of the indoor option.
SEQUENCE OF ARRIVAL
When arriving at a weekly rehearsal, each NHBFV participant will need to complete the following four steps PRIOR to entering our rehearsal space (while staying at least six feet apart for proper social distancing):
For outdoor rehearsals, during each five-minute break, all participants will leave the rehearsal space (while maintaining appropriate social distancing) to allow any airborne aerosols to disperse prior to resuming rehearsal in the same space.
By registering for the late spring/summer 2021 session, all NHBFV participants will agree to observe the following COVID-19 screening questions and conditions shown below. These screening questions will be:
To protect ALL New Horizons Band Fox Valley participants (our musicians, instructors and Director), each participant will be asked to respond to the following: In the last 14 days, have you:
If a participant answers YES to any of these questions, they will be asked to PLEASE stay at home and advised to call their primary care physician.
TRAVEL OUT-OF-STATE AND TO WISCONSIN COVID-19 HOT SPOTS
NHBFV asks all participants to exercise good judgement after returning from any out-of-state travel and/or travel to Wisconsin COVID-19 hots spots by NOT attending rehearsal, as prudent. All band participants are counting on each other to use good, common sense and discretion regarding post-travel self-quarantine.
If a NHBFV participant presents with new, persistent or worsening signs or symptoms of COVID-19, they will not be permitted to return to NHBFV rehearsals until:
- In the case of a NHBFV participant who was diagnosed with COVID-19, the individual may return to the NHBFV when all three of the following criteria are met:
- In the case of a NHBFV participant who has symptoms that could be COVID-19 and does not get evaluated by a medical professional or tested for COVID-19, the individual is assumed to have COVID-19, and the individual may not return to Band until the individual has completed the same three-step criteria listed above; OR
- If the NHBFV participant has symptoms that could be COVID-19 and wants to return to the Band before completing the above self-isolation period, the individual must obtain a medical professional’s note clearing the individual for return based on an alternative diagnosis.
**If a NHBFV participant is symptomatic and/or tests positive for COVID-19, they must immediately inform NHBFV, so the Band can immediately notify ALL participants they may have been exposed to COVID-19 at a prior band rehearsal. The participant’s name/identity will not be revealed.
